LONDON PODCAST EVENTS THIS WINTER: AWARDS NIGHTS AND THE PODCAST SHOW 2027

In brief

  • The Independent Podcast Awards return to Kings Place, King's Cross, on Wednesday 4 November 2026. In-person tickets are £49, and there is also a live-stream.
  • The British Audio Awards, known as the Speakies, take place on Monday 23 November 2026 and cover podcasts for the first time, alongside audiobooks and audio drama.
  • The Audio Production Awards (APAs) from AudioUK are on Thursday 26 November 2026 at the BFI in London, with new categories including Best Use of Video.
  • The Podcast Show London 2027 runs on 19 and 20 May 2027 at the Business Design Centre in Islington. First Release Passes go on sale on Wednesday 21 October.

Looking back: the British Podcast Awards 2026

The season opened on Thursday 1 October 2026, when the tenth British Podcast Awards were held at Indigo at The O2 in Greenwich, hosted by comedian Jake Bhardwaj. Winners were named across 31 categories.

  • Podcast of the Year and Best Factual Podcast went to Hold or Fold from the Prison Radio Association, a series about lives affected by gambling.
  • Best Host went to Bill Nighy for ill-advised (EYEPOD Studios).
  • Listeners' Choice, the public vote powered by Spotify, went to Hard Launch with Dan & Phil (Studio71).
  • Pete Wicks' Man Made (Bauer Media) won Best Interview and Best Health & Wellbeing.
  • Get Birding, hosted by Sean Bean (Peanut & Crumb), won Best Lifestyle and Best Video Innovation.
  • Best Network/Publisher went to BBC World Service, and Best New Podcast to Do I Detect A Problem? (Sync Clap Limited).

Independent Podcast Awards: Wednesday 4 November

Now in its fourth year, the Independent Podcast Awards celebrate indie creators from the UK and Ireland. Entries have closed and the 2026 shortlist has been announced.

The ceremony is at Kings Place in King's Cross. Organisers give approximate timings of doors at 7:15pm, the show at 8:15pm and an after-party in the Acast Arms from 9:30pm, with the event ending at 10:45pm. In-person tickets cost £49 and include the drinks reception, programme, live show, winners' brochure and after-party. Tickets, including the live-stream option, are sold through the Kings Place box office. There is no dress code, and the venue is step-free.

The British Audio Awards (the Speakies): Monday 23 November

Run by The Bookseller and The Stage, the Speakies celebrate audiobooks, audio drama and, from this second edition, podcasts. Submissions closed on 18 September.

The Audio Production Awards: Thursday 26 November

Established in 2010, the APAs from AudioUK celebrate the producers, editors, sound designers and presenters behind UK podcasts, radio and audiobooks. The 2026 ceremony takes place at the BFI in London.

New and updated categories for 2026 include Executive Producer of the Year, Best Use of Video, Experimental Sound Design and an International Breakthrough Award. The Best Use of Video category reflects how many audio shows are now also made for screens.

The Podcast Show London 2027: 19-20 May

The Podcast Show describes itself as an international event for the business of podcasting, with talks, an exhibition and networking. The 2027 edition is at the Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 0QH, open 9am to 6pm on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 May 2027, with badge pick-up from 8:30am.

The nearest Tube is Angel on the Northern line, about a five-minute walk, with Highbury & Islington for rail and Overground. First Release Passes go on sale on Wednesday 21 October 2026.
